She has worked with students and their families from ages 4 – 18 in both the local and international school settings.
Lynette is experienced in working with both special needs and mainstream school children with various diagnoses inclusive of autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit hyperactive disorder, developmental delay, speech and language disorders, learning disabilities, dyslexia, and dyspraxia. Applying both educational therapy and counselling skills, Lynette has also helped students address difficulties related to low self-esteem, task avoidance, low motivation, defiance and oppositional behaviour, bullying, executive functioning deficits, poor organization skills, and emotional struggles.
Her primary focus is to understand each student’s uniqueness, motivation, thought processes, and purpose. With this, she observes strengths and learning differences faced in order to help students meet their potential. An advocate for a collaborative approach, she values working closely with family members, educators, caregivers, and therapists. Also, as a tertiary level lecturer with the School of Social and Health Sciences, Lynette is invested in extending her knowledge to include the latest research concerning human development and mental health. She is also focused on her own continued professional education to maintain skills of relevance in the community.
