Developing Intrinsic Motivation for Long-Term Success at KidzOTC
Research consistently shows that intrinsic motivation is a crucial factor for long-term behavioural change, especially for children with learning disabilities. Whether for a child or an adult, meaningful progress is most likely when tasks are perceived as relevant to personal goals and when the individual feels capable of completing the task. In simpler terms, students need to find a task meaningful and believe they have the skills to tackle it. This sense of personal efficacy fosters accountability, encourages engagement, and reduces distractions and procrastination, while building perseverance.
For this November & December school holiday period, our KidzOTC programs focus on nurturing self-awareness and developing essential skills that support learning. We aim to help students connect their personal values and beliefs to their academic goals. This alignment fosters a sense of purpose and drive, motivating students to actively engage with their learning.
At KidzOTC, we believe that when students gain a deeper understanding of themselves, they are better equipped to approach challenges with determination and passion for learning—setting the stage for a successful academic year ahead.
