Why do children find reading for comprehension and responding in written form so effortful? The way in which a student reads to comprehend is critical. This workshop encourages students to make connections to their existing knowledge to visualize what they have read. Not only does it improve understanding of the sequences of events, this approach can also help students make deeper inferences to engage the implicit meanings within texts.
