What We Hear from Our Past Clients
EXCELLENT Based on 51 reviews Posted on gabriel limTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. To parents of neurodivergent children, As a former client, I am writing this to recommend KidzOTC to parents whose children may need occupational therapy (am currently 31 years of age). I was enrolled into KidzOTC when I was in Primary 6 and preparing for the dreaded Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE), when I developed a serious stammer in my speech. As far as I can remember it was an indicator of the stress I underwent as I prepared for PSLE. My parents initially enrolled me into speech therapy but was referred to KidzOTC by the speech therapist. I was shortly thereafter diagnosed with severe dyspraxia and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and my occupational therapy sessions with KIDZ was aimed at addressing these concerns. Both conditions continue to affect my life today but were most prominent in my earlier years, as hand eye coordination, as well as paying attention when necessary (among other life skills) – all proved to be challenging to me. These conditions also influenced my ability to socialize, and I was largely unable to make friends as a child. Uncle Alvin was my main therapist throughout my time at KIDZ, and he was extremely patient and kind in guiding me throughout my treatment process in the approximately two years I was a client at KIDZ. While I did not clearly notice the effects of my occupational therapy sessions after I was “discharged” from KidzOTC, the life experiences I have been able to engage in is a testament to its impact on the quality of my life. I took up horse riding, rock climbing, and most recently golf. I learned how to ski during trips to both Japan and South Korea – something I thought I would never be able to pick up. I was able to enlist and complete my two years of National Service (NS) in the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) as a Fire and Rescue Specialist (a firefighter) – which is a physically demanding role that requires strong hand eye coordination and a high standard of fitness. I continue to lead a physically active life and both run and gym regularly and even managed to run my first half marathon event in 2025! I was also able to complete my undergraduate and graduate studies, attaining commendations for both degrees and securing my first job shortly thereafter. I also have good friends from both my schooling days and interest groups, whom I interact with on a regular basis. That being said, my neurodivergence continues to challenge me in all aspects of my life. My struggles with fine motor skills does occasionally rear its ugly head whenever I pick up a new sport or exercise – as I often do sustain minor injuries due to incorrect movement and/or due to my inability to engage specific muscle groups where needed. While my ADHD allows me to hyperfocus on a certain thought or task, it has been an issue at times in my professional life, as it can make it difficult to track multiple tasks and/or commitments at the same time. However, I believe that the intervention I received at KIDZ Paediatric has provided me with the foundation to overcome the disadvantages that my neurodivergence entails. The metronome exercises, gym work, and even the sensory brushing has likely developed my sensory processing skills to a level where I could adapt to future life challenges after I left KIDZ. While personal effort as well as the help of my family remains crucial to my success – I would argue that both my life experiences and challenges that I have been able to overcome would likely be very different had I not gone through occupational therapy at KIDZ. I sincerely thank Uncle Alvin and his amazing team for their efforts in helping me to make sense of my neurodivergence and wholeheartedly recommend KIDZ Paediatric!Posted on AllyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had the opportunity to shadow Alvin for several days and was deeply impressed by his approach to pediatric occupational therapy. He tailors interventions to each child’s unique needs, seamlessly integrating therapeutic goals into activities that feel like play. I saw how he used creativity and humour to build rapport, support emotional regulation, and guide children from toddlers to teenagers. His sessions go beyond academics, focusing on holistic growth and well-being. It was a privilege to learn from him.Posted on Gaurav PoolaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Extremely grateful to Mr. John for his mentorship over the past 6+ months. He has played an important role in helping and guiding our son, and there’s been great improvement in his confidence and skills. Our son genuinely enjoys attending "Uncle John's" class every week. I had the opportunity to shadow Alvin at KIDZOTC and learnt a lot. It was such an insightful experience to see what OT is like. Thank you for your patience and guidance! Thank you to Belinda as well, who was so quick with communication and made everything smooth! :)Posted on TerenceTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Alvin has been a professional. Highly recommended. Thank you for these years of help and support.Posted on PerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We are so grateful for the incredible care and support our son has received from Alvin. In the past, our preschooler was bouncing off the walls, and it often felt like we were running on empty chasing after him. Thankfully Alvin was extremely patient and knowledgeable, providing us with the assurance we desperately needed. What stands out most is how Alvin connects so well with children. Our son, who often found it hard to sit down and listen, responds to him with focus and trust. He is so delighted to attend his occupational therapy classes and would often ask me, “Am I going to see Uncle Alvin today?” Each occupational therapy session was a special moment to him. Alvin has a unique ability to meet my preschooler where he is, guiding him in ways that make him feel understood and empowered. We’ve seen real progress — our son is now more regulated and thriving. Of course, it’s still a journey, but thanks to Alvin’s dedication and partnership, we can clearly see the growth and have hope again. Thanks Alvin for your hardwork and heartwork. This level of dedication and desire to give your best to every kid and help them develop to their fullest potential, certainly stems from the heart.Posted on marvin teoTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I first went to see Alvin and Stanley when I was struggling with my learning progress in school. It’s been about six years since then, and honestly, those sessions made a huge and lasting impact on how I plan, learn, and work as both a student and a team member. Back then, I could barely keep up with my studies (LOL, I used to just memorise things without really understanding them). Through their guidance, I learned how to approach problems systematically using SMART goals, along with fun and practical exercises that actually stuck with me. Both of them are really great guys too—ALVIN ESPECIALLY, super chill and easygoing!Posted on Priescilia ChairilTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We fly all the way from Jakarta just to see Alvin — that’s how much we trust and appreciate him! My son absolutely loves his sessions and always gets so excited to meet Alvin. We’ve seen so much progress since working with him. He’s kind, patient, and really knows how to connect with kids. Super thankful for everything he’s done for our family!Posted on MGWTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. May I highly recommend Alvin Chan and KidzOTC! Alvin is an excellent occupational therapist who worked with my 2 sons over the years. Patient, professional, compassionate and kind, he understood their schooling, sensorial and behavioural issues and was a God-send. I could not recommend Alvin more. Meeting him for the first time, it was like he had been a fly on my wall and knew all the issues that I had been facing trying to parent 2 boys with issues that he was able to identify and work on. I consider that the therapy he recommended helped my eldest in particular - now years later, my eldest has graduated from university with first class honours. Who would have thought that possible? More importantly, he is a delight to be with, has a balanced life, loves God and volunteers in church. As a mother, I couldn't be happier. I am very grateful to Alvin and his team.Posted on Li Choo QuekTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My son started seeing Alvin Chan at Kidz POTC for occupational therapy when he was very young, around 4years old. He had been diagnosed with auditory processing difficulties, and also had sensory and core strength issues. With Alvin’s therapy support over the years, my son was able to overcome many of his difficulties. The exercises and various programmes that he did with Alvin, such as obstacle courses and interactive metronome helped him with his academic challenges and his core muscles and balance also improved significantly. He was able to take part in various sports such as tennis and even skiing. Alvin was consistently patient, kind, and encouraging to him. This played a part in boosting his self esteem and confidence, which was so important for a child with auditory, learning and physical challenges. Initially, as a busy mum, I did not fully appreciate the value of occupational therapy for my son, as it was not a “quick fix”. But I was able to see, after a few sessions, how my son developed and improved. I was very glad that he had continued to see Alvin for occupational therapy over a number of years. I realised that occupational or physical therapy was every bit as important (if not more important) as academic tuition for my son. My son benefited greatly from his OT sessions with Alvin, and subsequently was even inspired to go into the field of physical therapy himself! Thank you Alvin for being a wonderful, caring and dedicated therapist.
